About Me

Becca Shaw

My journey to becoming a therapist began from the perspective of a client.

Through my own therapeutic experience and meaningful conversations with therapist

friends, I found myself increasingly drawn to the healing profession. What started as a

personal interest soon evolved into a passionate career path as I immersed myself in books about therapy and pursued formal training.

My professional foundation was built working with diverse clients at a non-profit serving lower socioeconomic populations, where I encountered various forms of trauma that sparked my specialized focus. Since then, I've dedicated myself to advanced training in trauma-focused modalities, including EMDR and somatic techniques in my practice. For couples work, I blend approaches from my Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) externship and Gottman Method (Levels 1 & 2) training.

Today, I primarily work with betrayed partners and couples, carefully balancing trauma processing with resourcing to prevent therapy burnout or retraumatization. I believe deeply in the importance of the secure attachment relationship between therapist and client, and continually assess each client's window of tolerance when addressing difficult material. My practice is guided by a commitment to provide consistent support, validation, and thoughtful reflection as we work together toward healing.

Additionally, my affiliation with a Georgia-based group practice called Wayfare Counseling provides access to regular consultation with seasoned professional counselors and ongoing training in somatic experiencing practices. This collaborative relationship allows me to continuously expand my skills and provide you with comprehensive, evidence-based care. I'm a proud team member of the Wayfare Collective!
